Enjoy Some of Our Favorite Cabo Photo Opportunities

Whichever direction you look, there's always something worthy of a photo in Cabo. After all, this is where the dramatic starkness of the desert gives way to the vibrant blue of the sea, where quiet solitude meets abundant life. We've listed 8 of our favorite places and activities below. So grab your camera or phone and start snapping away!

El Arco de Cabo San Lucas (The Arch of Cabo San Lucas)

The Arch at Land's End is probably the most well-known, and frequently photographed, of Cabo's landmarks. This iconic rock formation marks the point where the Pacific ocean view villas Ocean and the Gulf of California meet. You can photograph El Arco from the beach but some of the best photos are taken from a boat.

For a more unusual perspective, take a waterproof camera with you on a snorkeling trip to the Arch and take plenty of close-up photographs from various angles. You're sure to capture a unique photo you'll love! And don't forget to add a sunrise or sunset photo to your collection. The combination of dramatic shape with glorious color is spectacular!

Misión de San José del Cabo Añuiti

This historic Catholic church is currently located in downtown Cabo, although it has had various incarnations throughout its storied history. It traces that history back to 1730 when it was the southernmost of all Jesuit missions in Mexico. The beautiful mosaics practically beg to be photographed during the day. The well-lit elegant architectural details on the exterior photograph beautifully at night.

San José del Cabo Art Walk

Enjoy the historic authenticity of San José del Cabo's Plaza Mijares and Misión. Then wander west behind the Church and into the Gallery District, where you will find walkable side streets bursting with high-end art galleries alongside vendors selling handcrafted souvenirs.

From 5-9 PM every Thursday evening between November and June, enjoy the San Jose del Cabo Art Walk. This popular weekly event features closed streets, dancers and other entertainment, and special gallery happenings.

Flora Farms

Nestling into the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains near San José del Cabo, you will find this picturesque, organic farm. Flora Farms offers plenty of opportunities for intimate portraits of gorgeous fresh produce and the glorious food made from it.

The dishes at Flora's Field Kitchen are organic, seasonal, and sustainably produced on the farm and nearby ranch. If you eat there, you will definitely want to photograph the beautiful and delicious food for Instagram!

San Jose Estuary and Bird Sanctuary

This massive estuary where the mountain-born Rio San Jose meets the Sea of Cortez is located just 5 minutes from downtown San Jose del Cabo. Its 350 acres are home to large numbers of fish, amphibian, reptile, and insect species. However, the real draw here is the many species of birds.

Many tropical species live here year-round while others visit during their migrations. The diverse array of more than 250 bird species include night herons, egrets, bitterns, thrashers, brown pelicans, green herons, frigate birds, sparrow hawks, ibis, plovers, white herons, and red-tailed hawks. You may even see the rare Xantus's hummingbird if you are lucky!

The landscape itself is stunning and there are thousands of living creatures here just waiting to have their pictures taken. There are trails around the sanctuary but the best way to see everything it has to offer is during a relaxing kayaking tour led by a qualified guide.

Miraflores

This charming village is approximately 19 miles from Los Cabos. In terms of authentic culture, Miraflores is one of the richest areas in Cabo. The village, which is hundreds of years old, is well-known for the quality of its leather goods. Its lush landscaping features many kinds of fruit, including the exotic pitahaya (a type of dragon fruit that grows on the organ pipe cactus). Each year, when the fruit ripens around the middle of July, the village holds a harvest festival. Whenever you visit, this picturesque village offers many delightful photo opportunities!

Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park

This marine park about 60 miles north of Cabo is home to the Gulf of California's only living reefs. The sea life here is stunning in its beauty, variety, and abundance. Perhaps that is how it earned its nickname as 'The Aquarium of the World'! This is the quintessential spot for snorkeling and scuba diving, which also makes it ideal for underwater photography. You're sure to get some amazing photos with such a tremendous variety of sea life living in these clear waters. It's definitely worth the drive!

Whales in the Water

If you would like to add to your collection of sea life photos, there are ample opportunities to photograph whales from one of the many whale-watching boat tours. Hundreds of whales visit these rich waters each year while majestic humpback and gray whales actually give birth here. Other species you may see are orcas, minke whales, sperm whales, fin whales, and pilot whales. Even awe-inspiring blue whales, the largest animal to ever live, visit Cabo occasionally!
